Protected Species Surveys

A protected species is any plant or animal that is legally protected because it is endangered, threatened to become endangered, or one of special concern. Legal protection may be at the federal, state, or local level. LandScience conducts protected species surveys to assess the presence of either endangered species, threatened species, or species of special concern on proposed developments throughout the continental United States. The failure to identify a protected species on a proposed development can hinder the development process, result in unnecessary costs, and limit the proposed area to be developed. The overall impact of protected species on a property to be developed varies depending on the species involved, the extent a particular species is present, and the management plan determined for the species.
